Launch Lab: How can you bend water?


Equipments:
1. Water
2. Funnel
3. Balloon filled with air
4. Hair / Sweater

 1. Why did you rub the balloon on your sweater? Predict what might have happened if you simply touched the balloon to your sweater instead of rubbing it.

Ans: We rub to make charge in the balloon so when the water fall down it will bend towards the balloon. If you simply touched the balloon to your sweater instead of rubbing it there won't be any electrons transferred between objects. 

 2. Why do you think the balloon interacted the way it did with your sweater and with the stream of water?

Ans: Because the balloon have negative charge, Water, that some parts are positive, will flow down as the curve of the balloon.

Materials:
flashlight
red paddle
blue paddle
yellow paddle
green paddle
purple paddle
white paper




Activity A
 r+g, r+b, b+g
work with another group—put a color paddle over the flashlight, shine on white paper—so a red, a green, and a blue
 Activity B
view white paper through color paddles—record results
view colored objects through color paddles


r+g= yellow      
r+b=purple  
b+g=dark green

Put each filter to each flashlight and shine it on white paper = white
Shine light on every filter on white paper = black

take a picture with a purple filter

Questions for crystallization of milk

1. First, we pour ice to the plastic box to cover milk that is in a plastic bag.
2. Shake the box until it is slightly frozen.
3. Put cookies and other things in the bag.
4. Put it back to the plastic box.
5. Wait until it frozen.

Questions

1)  why do we add salt to the ice?
It makes ice stick together, colder and longer for ice to not melt to water.
2)   why do we add the cookies and other things, only after the milk has frozen slightly
Cookies won't mix with milk if we put it after it froze.
3)  what are two factors that affect the freezing you think?
Ice and salt
4)  why do you need a bit of air in the bag?
 It makes milk freeze faster.

 Calculate the density of each of your mineral samples. How could you use the
densities to identify the minerals?
Ans. Density can be measured with the structure of the minerals. Different minerals will have different density.

Would density or color be more useful in identifying a particular mineral?
Ans. A mineral's density is the amount of matter in a given space (mass/volume) and more specific way to compare the densities of minerals but colour is easily observed, but not always a reliable characteristic for the identification of minerals because different minerals may have the same color.
